NBA大改革：2018年全明星赛将取消东西部分组

北京时间10月4日，NBA官方宣布，在即将到来的NBA新赛季当中，NBA全明星赛将迎来重大改革，此前一直沿用的东西部分组竞争将被废除，新赛季NBA全明星赛的两支球队，将由两名球队的队长各自挑选球员。而两名队长由观众投票数最高的球员当选，东西部各一名。
日的洛杉矶全明星赛中，来自东西部的球员仍然各为12人。每支球队的5名首发球员，沿用此前的投票方式，球迷（50%）、球员（25%）以及媒体（25%）投票产生。替补球员由每支球队的主教练挑选确定。
这项新的改革会产生很多新的故事，能够看到同一分区的球员以对手的身份在场上较量，甚至是同一球队的队友。
上赛季，勒布朗·詹姆斯荣登东部联盟的票王，斯蒂芬·库里则一统西部。
全明星投票在圣诞节拉开大幕，首发阵容将在1月18日宣布，替补阵容则于1月23日确定。
这种改革既是好事又是坏事，队长在挑选球员的时候，不得不考虑一些场外因素，比如一些球员之间过往的关系。
另外，此项改动是由NBA联盟和球员工会共同推动完成的，尤其是球员工会主席克里斯·保罗。双方就这个问题已经进行了多年的商讨，最终NBA联盟于上赛季修改了投票机制。
NBA全明星赛还增添了另一个元素，每支球队将代表一家全国性的慈善机构或者洛杉矶当地的慈善组织，全明星赛将为两家慈善机构进行资助。
对于联盟的此次改动，夏洛特黄蜂队老板迈克尔·乔丹认为：“很高兴看到球员和联盟共同为全明星赛的发展做出的贡献。”克里斯·保罗说：“我们期待在洛杉矶献上精彩的表演。”
