本题是日的原题重现。很有意思的是，近几次雅思考试的作文都复现了年的原题。唐老师在建议大家多准备真题的同时，也再次提醒大家：不宜把雅思考试的希望寄托在押题上，关键的是通过复习考试，真正提升英语写作能力，这才是根本。
本次题目中提及两个观点：应该花钱为世界大赛做准备还是应该把钱投给青少年运动？
从某种意义上讲，本题也与日（2016年 12月3日复现）的题目很相似，该题如下：
Some countries achieve international sporting success by building specialized facilities to train top athletes instead of providing sports facilities that everyone can use. Do you think it is a positive or negative development? （；)
该题要求讨论的是政府应该花钱为顶级运动员建特殊体育设施还是应该花钱建为大众使用的体育设施，很明显，该题的前半部分与本次考试几乎是完全相同的，即政府应该为顶级运动员花钱让他们去世界大赛争金夺银，但在后半部分则有一定差异：前者要求讨论为大众建体育设施的好处，本题则要求讨论孩子从小开始运动的好处。
就本题而言，我们完全可以采用&双边讨论&的结构：
先讨论给顶级运动员投资的好处（比如为国家赢得尊重，为有天赋的运动员创造机会等），再讨论给孩子运动投资的好处（有利于孩子身体健康，有利于孩子养成锻炼身体的习惯等），最后可以指出这两者其实并无矛盾：更多的孩子从事运动，产生顶级运动员的机会就更大，因此投资孩子运动，其实也就是间接投资顶级运动员。
Investing in sports is an important part of the government&s business to improve the physical fitness of its citizens, particularly young children. While it is necessary to train a few selected individuals to compete in major world sporting events, the government should do more to provide young people with plenty of sports activities.
投资于体育是政府提高公民，特别是儿童身体健康的重要组成部分。虽然有必要训练一些选定的人去重大的世界体育赛事中竞争，但政府应该做更多的工作，为年轻人提供大量体育活动。

To begin with, to motivate children to be physically fit, they should be physically active at grass-root levels, and the key is investing in a variety of sports facilities. Whatever their fitness personality, all young children can be more healthy by doingregular exercise. Generally speaking, if children start doing sports early enough, they will come to regard physical activity as a normal part of everyday life. This shows why money should be spent giving children opportunities to begin sports at an early age.

At this point, the question arises about the wisdom of a country (with limited resources) spending too much money and not getting a good return, suggesting that this money should be put elsewhere. Although the answer to the question depends on who you ask, there is evidence that investing in elite athletes is gaining support from people who like to see their stars shining in international competitions. That in turn is an encouragement for young children to do sports at an early age.

Cooperation has strongly been advocated by many schools, possibly because
good teamwork spirit is regarded as shared trait among successful groups. It is
believed that organizing children to do team sports is the best way to teach
cooperation. My view is that team sports are of great significance to the
cultivation of teamwork spirit, despite the fact that children can learn to
cooperate through many other methods.

teamwork spirit. In the team environment, members need to know how to
communicate with each other and discuss strategies to beat rivals, which can
prepare students for both academic performance and career development. If there
are no team activities provided for children, they may feel lonely and isolated
from the outside world. Undoubtedly, introducing more team sports to children
contributes to cultivating their cooperation spirit.

Another advantage of team sports is that it can encourage children to obey
team rules. When they are playing together, they have to follow some certain
otherwise activities or games may not be gone smoothly. In
addition, children are more likely to help each other and realize the merits of
