不要称它们是闪电轮组，在被闪电收购之前，Roval就有很好的革新的名声，早在1980年，这家法国公司就是轮组系统的先锋。使用专门的直拉扁辐条，2比1的编法，气动花鼓外形，还有定制的隐藏辐条帽，这些设计可以减少风阻。最新的Roval CLX系列碳纤公路轮组上仍然有让人欣赏的进步。
每种CLX轮组都提供准真空开口胎和管胎、碟刹和轮圈刹车型号，它们的轮圈使用不同的碳纤叠层。全部CX轮组仍然使用定制Roval AF花鼓和DT行星齿轮内部结构，直拉辐条，但是使用外置条帽方便维护，2比1编法，CeramicSpeed混合陶瓷卡匣轴承。
开口胎都使用20.7mm内宽，更好的支持大容量轮胎，根据不同系列，32，50，64mm轮圈的外宽分别是28.1，29.4，29.9mm，从而维持最佳的气动性。不用惊讶，气动性是CLX轮组的关键卖点。依据Roval的说法，32s，50s和64s分别比直接竞争对手Zipp 202s，454s和808s快一点，而且是在全部偏航角度上。
毫无疑问CLX 32是系列中最轻的，用于取代CLX 40，轮圈刹车-管胎版本重量只有1155克，碟刹开口胎版本也保持了羽毛般轻量的1350克。尽管比上一代的框高少了8mm，但Roval宣称它新的胖圈外形具有更高的气动效率，甚至比一些竞争对手两倍框高的更胜一筹。实际上CLX 32首次亮相是在越野公路比赛中，强度让人放心。
最新的轮组是CLX 50，Roval自称是杀手级别的。重量从克，比CLX 32稍重，但是提供了更好的气动性能。
CLX 64是系列中最老的，但也是最快的，虽然差距不是太大。它是和闪电Venge气动公路一起开发，萨甘骑着它获得2016男子公路世界冠军。宣称重量从1375克的轮圈刹车-管胎版到1615克的碟刹-开口胎版。
CLX 50是最全能的轮组，在大多环境下表现最好，它在1月中旬发布，在24小时内卖出了通常1个月的销量。
布南（Tom Boonen）首次用碟刹公路取得UCI赛事冠军，用的就是前CLX 50，后CLX 64，另外在环澳上展出了萨甘的金色版本CLX 64，用在他定制的闪电Venge ViAS Disc战车上。
我们使用Roval CLX轮组骑行在丘陵，其中有一些泥地，测试自行车是闪电Roubaix Expert，配置CLX 32碟刹轮组，26mm宽的S-Works Turbo Cotton轮胎，具有超柔软的360TPI聚酯棉布编织层，乳胶内胎。
CLX 32性能达到我们预期，1350克重量帮助爬坡更加快速，宽圈设计可以使用较低的气压（80psi），带来牵引力和舒适性的优势。在刹车时，轮子展现了刚性和预判性，重载时也没有可见的弯曲。
在随后的Eureka峡谷公路，我们用CLX 50取代了CLX 32后轮。高框轮组感觉刚性和坚固，但是在不太理想的环境，很难察觉任何气动性的优势。连续的暴雨让公路潮湿，有些路段变得危险，因此我们骑行的最高速度只有63kph。实际上，仅仅在后轮使用CLX 50，对在横风中的操控特征只有一点点了解。
消费者反响
Roval是完全的碳纤公路轮组产品线，针对高价、高性能轮组市场。目前Roval轮组被两家世巡赛车队使用，QuickStep Floors和Bora-Hansgrohe。然而，这两支车队都被闪电赞助，并没有其它主要车队使用Roval轮组，这非常像Bontrager轮组，只有Trek赞助的车队使用。
相对的，Shimano轮组在2017年被6支世巡赛车队使用，Campagnolo有三支车队使用，Mavic支持两支车队，Zipp和Enve各有一支车队使用。虽然面对很强的竞争，但Roval还是开了个好头，有世界冠军使用，还有首个职业公路碟刹胜利。
