Not only that, but even arb doesn't get you nearly as much as free agency would, and you need 6 years of service time to be able to be a free agent and actually make big money, since if you became a free agent before that, it means you are worthless enough that your team didn't even bother tendering you an offer.

　　I wonder what the effect would be if under the new CBA they kept the salary cap but got rid of max contracts and instead teams would be free to spend as much as they like on inpidual players. I think it would increase parity because the salaries of players like Durant and Lebron would be prohibitively expensive and thus the top 30 players in the league would spread themselves somewhat easily instead of amassing on the same team.
　　The fact that under the old cap Enes Kanter got a max contract the same as one that would have been signed by Kawhi Leonard means that these contracts artificially lower the contracts of the very top players.
　　It would mean that Durant probably wouldnt have signed with the Warriors in the off-season and instead sign with a team with significantly more cap space, maybe Boston.

　　it also isn't substantially different from the NBA rules, once you really study the details. (i) in soccer, players who overperform their contract ge thus, clubs have an incentive to discover raw talent and sign them to long-term contracts, basically &bearing& the positiv (ii) in the NBA, rookie contracts are arbitrarily limited, thus creating a strong incentive for teams to draft the best rookies possible via extensive scouting. Furthermore, as a consequence, draft picks become valuable to the club...and draft picks are often used in a trade for players on good-value contracts, just like a transfer fee.

　　这也不是说和NBA的规则完全不同，一旦你真正的研究足球的细微之处，你会发现合同超值的球员得到的转会费高，因此，这会激励俱乐部发去掘璞玉然后和他们签一份长期合同，基本上这种合同承担地都是积极的风险。在NBA里，新秀合同被单方面限制，因此更加能激励球队去通过大量球探组来选取可能最好的新秀。此外，由此带来的结果就是选秀权成为球队可利用的资产……而且选秀权经常用于交易一个合同物有所值的球员，这就像转会费一样。
