阿丽亚娜系列火箭的成功，是欧洲联合自强的一个象征，它在国际航天市场的角逐中占有重要地位，世界商业卫星的发射业务大约有50%由阿丽亚娜火箭承担。
阿丽亚娜系列火箭Ariane-1
“Ariane-1”火箭是在“欧洲号”火箭和法国“钻石号”火箭基础上研制的三级液体火箭，自首次发射至日止，共飞行11次。“Ariane-1”火箭从法属圭亚那库鲁发射场发射， 能将1.85吨的有效载荷送入地球同步转移轨道， 或将2.5吨送入轨道高度为790公里、 倾角98.7度的太阳同步圆轨道。 火箭长47.7米，直径3.8米，发射重量200吨。

“Ariane-2”和“Ariane-3”的研制目的均是为了在国际卫星发射市场上争取更多的用户。二者的不同点在于“Ariane-3”在“Ariane-2”的基础上捆绑了两台固体推进器。“Ariane-2”和“Ariane-3”从法属圭亚那库鲁发射场发射，可以执行多种任务，但主要是向地球同步转移轨道发射各种卫星。两箭均为长49.5米， 直径为3.8米，运载能力分别是“Ariane-2”为2.17吨，“Ariane-3”为2.85吨。
阿丽亚娜系列火箭Ariane-4
“Ariane-4”是在“Ariane-3”的基础上研制成功的。主要目的在于提高运载能力；保持双星和多星发射能力；具有适应多种发射任务的型式；降低了发射成本。“Ariane-4”有六种型号，分别为AR40型，同步转移轨道运载能力为1.9吨；AR42P型，带有两个固体捆绑式助推火箭，增加到2.6吨；AR44P型，带有四个固体捆绑式助推火箭，有效载荷为3吨；AR42L型，采用两个液体火箭助推火箭，有效载荷为3.2吨；AR44L型，采用四个液体助推火箭，同步转移轨道运载能力达4.2吨；AR44LP型，采用两个液体助推火箭和两个固体捆绑式助推火箭，同步转移轨道运载能力为3.7吨。火箭长57-59.8米，直径约9米。

“Ariane-5”是根据商业发射市场和近地轨道开发利用的需要研制的，主要用于向和太阳同步轨道发射各种卫星，向发射哥伦布无人驾驶的自由飞行平台和“使神号”空间飞机。火箭长52.76-54米，最大直径12.2米。
法国巴黎时间日23时37分（北京时间23日5时37分），欧洲Ariane-5型火箭携带两颗通信卫星，从法属圭亚那库鲁发射升空。 　根据欧洲阿丽亚娜空间公司的电视直播，这枚火箭搭载的是阿联酋Al　Yah卫星通信公司的YahsatY1A型和的新拂晓卫星。在升空约半小时后，两颗卫星将先后脱离火箭进入临时轨道。按计划，它们将最终进入。[2]
