9/25/2014, 微信群里看到不少去ECOC的朋友晒出在戛纳拍摄的许多靓照，看起来大家的心情都不错。的确，这世界上比戛纳更适合欣赏阳光，海滩，游艇的地方并不多。
今年的ECOC，不同以往，没有密集的新闻稿，但还是并不缺乏新的技术。最后一天是Post Deadline 过截至期文章发布的日子，这一天的Post Deadline文章，还是有一些亮点。比如美国的Xtera就宣布他们在基于拉曼放大器的无中继传输系统在传输距离传输容量乘积上实现新的突破。Xtera在上海有一家研发中心，不知道他们这个技术有多少来自上海的贡献。
今天也是Poster Session的日子。Lightwave的Stephen Hardy带来在Poster部分的许多新发现，光纤厂家Prysmian推出新的WideCap-OM4多模光纤。这种光纤的特色是更好支持400Gbps传输，特别适合多个波长，比如说4个波长的传输。Prysmian希望这种光纤成为新的OM5多模光纤的基础。
Infinera的文章介绍了他们在2.25Tbps PIC方面的进展，这是Infinera在500Gbps PIC之后开发Tbps PIC芯片的最新进展。
西班牙电信通ADVA等开展SDN的实验。
加拿大魁北克的Teraxion一篇文章介绍了基于硅光子的针对PAM4传输的调制器。
Stephen的其他发现还包括：
JDSU正在合作伙伴的帮助下开发和Finisar的50Gbps硅光子类似的技术。对比8X50Gbps和16X25Gbps，用的激光器越少，未来成本就越低。
JDSU这个名字很可能保留给未来分离出的JDSU新器件业务。
住友也采用ClariPhy芯片开发出相干CFP模块，但是量产要到明年。
ECOC2014已经结束，ECOC2015正在招手。明年西班牙瓦伦西亚见了。
