一.首先建立信心
  对生活中偶尔遇到失眠经验,不必过份忧虑,相信自己的身体自然会调节适应。人的身心弹性甚大,本文中曾引述案例,连续200小时不睡者,仍能保持身心功能正常,一两夜失眠自不会造成任何困难。偶尔失眠之后,如不担心失眠的痛苦,到困倦时自然就会睡眠。失眠之后愈担心会再失眠的事,到夜晚就愈难入睡。
  二.安排规律生活
  避免失眠的最有效方法,是使生活起居规律化,养成定时入寝与定时起床的习惯,从而建立自己的生理时钟。有时因必要而晚睡,早晨仍然按时起床;遇有周末假期,避免多睡懒觉;睡眠不能贮储,睡多了无用。
  三.保持适度运动
  每天保持半小时至一小时的运动,藉以灵活身体各部器官。惟剧烈运动,睡眠前应尽是避免,有人想藉睡前剧烈运动,使身体疲倦而后易睡,是错误的。
  四.睡前放松心情

  尽量使卧房隔离噪音,而且养成关灯睡觉的习惯。
  六.使睡床单纯化

  七.睡前饮食适度
  睡前如有需要,可适度进食;牛奶、面包、饼干之类食物,有助于睡眠。过饱对睡眠不利;而咖啡、可乐、茶等带有刺激性的饮料,尤不利于睡眠。
  八.饮酒不利睡眠
  不少人对酒产生误解,误认饮酒有助于睡眠。固然,酒后容易入睡,但因酒所诱导的睡眠不易持久。酒气一消,容易清醒,醒后就很难入睡。而且酗酒者容易导致更严重的窒息性失眠。
