　　北京时间5月26日，NBA东部决赛第五场，骑士队客场以135-102 击败凯尔特人，以总比分4-1淘汰对手闯进总决赛。詹姆斯得到35分8篮板8助攻。加上这35分，詹姆斯季后赛生涯总得分累计达到5995分。超过名人堂成员迈克尔-乔丹（5987分），升至历史第一位。
　　在今年东部半决赛对阵猛龙的第二场比赛，詹姆斯实现了对天勾贾巴尔的超越，升至总决赛历史得分榜的第二位。在本场比赛开打前，詹姆斯只要得到28分就可实现对迈克尔-乔丹的超越，如今他已完成这一壮举。相比而言詹姆斯得到这一纪录很大程度上离不开他季后赛比赛场次远超乔丹，乔丹只打了179场季后赛，而目前詹姆斯就已经打了212场季后赛。
　　自从詹姆斯进入联盟以来，就被视为乔丹的接班人，所以詹姆斯总免不了和乔丹在各个方面进行对比。他的整个生涯都在追逐着伟大的迈克尔-乔丹的脚步，用他自己的话说他一直在追赶乔丹的“幽灵”。显然经过14个赛季，詹姆斯在某些方面的成就甚至已经超越了乔丹。比如进入总决赛的次数（詹姆斯8次对乔丹6次），最佳阵容次数（詹姆斯13次对乔丹11次）。
　　但在很多方面乔丹的成就仍遥遥领先于詹姆斯。如总冠军次数（乔丹6次对詹姆斯3次），总决赛MVP次数（乔丹6次詹姆斯3次），入选全明星次数（乔丹14次对詹姆斯13次），全明星MVP次数（乔丹3次对詹姆斯2次），常规赛MVP次数（乔丹5次对詹姆斯4次），最佳防守一阵（乔丹9次对詹姆斯5次），年度最佳防守球员（乔丹1次詹姆斯没有），得分王（乔丹10次詹姆斯1次）。显然詹姆斯要想全面赶超乔丹，至少从现在的成就来看仍有一段距离。
　　本场比赛前，詹姆斯生涯季后赛出战211场，场均42.1分钟，得到28.2分8.8篮板6.8助攻1.8抢断1.0盖帽；乔丹生涯季后赛出战179场，场均41.8分钟，得到33.4分6.4篮板5.7助攻2.1抢断0.9盖帽。
　　这一历史性时刻足够伟大，而詹姆斯还将继续刷新这一纪录。
