Welcome to the Datastar website.As part of this project, ’s Albert R. Mann Library, in
partnership with Washington University in St Louis, will analyze
researchers’ needs and preferences to share and discover datasets and to
enhance the Datastar semantic platform for this use. Librarians at
Cornell and Washington University will gather information from
researchers across a number of disciplines by performing in-depth
interviews and presenting case studies to report and summarize the
results. As part of this investigation, the team of developers will
transition the semantic platform (originally spelled DataStaR) developed at Cornell
University from a single library software prototype to a
well-documented, open-source platform ready for adoption and extension
at other institutions wishing to provide research data sharing and
discovery services. Datastar’s ability to expose metadata about research
datasets in a standard semantic format called Linked Data will be
enhanced to support selective interchange of related information with
VIVO, an open-source semantic researcher networking tool gaining
prominence through adoption at multiple U.S. universities, in the
federal government, and internationally.

The Data Discovery Center (DDC) is a digital library that provides access to a broad suite of
data sets generated by the New Hampshire and Maine EPSCoR programs. Current holdings include atmospheric, aquatic, and terrestrial sensor data,
imagery, model results, and survey data, in support of the Ecosystems and Society Project, the New England Sustainability Consortium (NEST),
and the Ecosystems Computing Challenge (ECC).
Data sets provided by the DDC strengthen our capacity for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) research and
training and in doing so promote development of a technologically advanced workforce that will be the economic engine of the future.
Project Spotlight:
LoVoTECS Network
The LoVoTECS Network project provides data on the temperature, electrical conductance, and stage of flowing water in the region.
These data sets will help improve our understanding of the state’s water resources, and will promote the development of a technologically advanced workforce via educational opportunities to interact with large data sets.
CoCoRAHS Albedo
The NH EPSCoR Community Collaborative - Rain, Albedo, Hail, and Snow Network (CoCoRAHS Albedo) is an outreach and educational extension effort that provides high quality volunteer collected snow albedo, snow depth, and snow density data for research and education applications.
High Intensity Terrestrial Network
The Terrestrial High Intensity Network project provides sensor data on soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) pools and fluxes at multiple sites across the state of New Hampshire, to help link soil processes to water chemistry parameters.
This data includes Volumetric Water Content, Electric Conductivity, Temperature, Soil CO2 Concentration, Ambient Outside Air Temperature, Precipitation Input, Chamber Box Temperature, and CO2 Flux.
High Intensity Aquatic Network
The Aquatic High Intensity Network project supports research efforts that model the impacts of current climatic extremes on aquatic ecosystem services under different land management.
Data collected for this project includes Nitrate (Molar), Nitrate(mg/L), Stream Temperature, Conductivity, Specific Conductance, pH, Depth, and Optical DO.
NH Climate - Past Present Future
The New Hampshire Climate - Past Present Future project provides data and model output to the DDC of historical () and projected future (to 2100) climate trends across New Hampshire
such as resource managers, planners, businesses, gove integrate projections of future climate change into their decision making process. For scientific researchers, more detailed statistically downscaled, daily global climate model
projections, across dozens of stations, in New Hampshire, have also been developed for use as input process-based models that simulate changes in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem services in the future.
